Wellington Curremt Design Standard platform signage. In the middle against a grey background is the station name, Wellington, justified to the right and grid coordinates, 3000N over 1000W, justified to the left; both in a bold while sans-serif Helvetica font. On either end, tabs protrude to identify the lines that stop at the station; Brown over Purple, with a medium white line separarting the two colors.

The red background indicated CTA designated Wellington an “A” station. Beginning August 1, 1949 only Ravenswood/Brown Line “A” trains would serve the station. The legendary skip-stop practice would remain in effect until February 5, 1995, though signs would remain until renovations closed the station on March 30, 2008.

Dating back to the original Northwestern ‘L’ these signs hung around well into the late 1970s. No examples have been found of the design's successor, which include grid coordinates, from a unified Chicago Rapid Transit Company (CRT). Either that or there would be no room with CRT's longest station name! The Brown Line features a similar replica sign at Francisco station farther out on the Ravenswood Branch.

The front two cars of a six-car 5000-series Purple Line Express to the Loop set glides into Wellington station. The train is on the farthest track of a four track main line, the platform is behind the train.

On a cool, late summer evening a six-car 5000-series set glides into Wellington station. After “terminating” around the Loop, the train will return to the North Side Main, stopping at Wellington once more on the way out to Linden.
